Project Background

The client envisioned a robust learning management platform designed specifically for colleges and universities. This platform needed to cater to multiple entities within the same organization, allowing respective team members to manage their specific responsibilities seamlessly. Key requirements included:

• The ability for institutions to manage courses, assessments, and grading in one place.

• Tools for faculty to create assignments, evaluate students, and track progress.

• Scheduling features for batches, attendance tracking, and syllabus assignment.

• A centralized system for student evaluation and administrative management.

Zaigo Infotech was tasked with digitizing the entire learning process, creating a web-based solution that would address these diverse needs while ensuring scalability and user-friendliness.

Goal

The primary objective was to develop a comprehensive SaaS application for academic institutions to:

• Facilitate the management of colleges, faculties, students, courses, and assignments.

• Facilitate Admin users with the ability to create their own universities, single colleges, or groups of colleges corresponding to a specific institution and configure and schedule academic courses and batches for students.

• Provide customized dashboards for different user roles (admins, faculty, and students) to login and manage their respective activities.

• Enable faculties to design and manage educational programs, including subjects, topics, assessments, and competencies.

• Simplify student attendance tracking, batch scheduling, syllabus mapping, and grading.

• Enable students to upload assignments which can be viewed in a file viewer by faculties, allowing them to easily grade assignments in various formats, including PDF, PPT, Word and XLS.

Project Timeline

The project was completed in 8 months, incorporating iterative feedback from real-time users, including administrative staff, faculty, and students.

Challenges

The project presented several challenges, including:

• Dynamic Design Revisions

  The UI/UX designs underwent multiple iterations based on user feedback, requiring an agile approach to development.

• Document Parsing

  Developing a feature to convert and display student assignment files (PDF, Word, PPT, etc.) for faculty review and grading.

• Bulk Upload Capabilities

  Implementing a seamless bulk upload process for user data (admins, faculty, students) and academic content (subjects and assignments).
